If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:11
Can you imagine the weight and importance if you are speaking the very words of God? You are saying God’s words for God. Let that settle.
What is God saying? His word is scripture. Speak the scripture and you speak God’s words. I have never thought of it that way. That is very heavy.
You can also think of it as you representing God when you speak. If you are a Christian, others are watching you. We are told to guard our tongue. We are to be slow to speak. That makes perfect sense if you look at iy like “you speak the very words of God.” Be sure to get those words right. Be sure to know God. Be sure to know what God has said and what God is saying.
This verse goes on to say, “serve with the strength of God.” You can accomplish anything if you have the strength of God. Do not count on yourself. Always look to God.
So where do we find Jesus in this? Jesus is glorified in your words and in your works. Let Jesus shine in everything you say and do.
